Kunena 5.2 RC 1 Released (25 Oct 2020)

The Kunena team is thrilled to announce the first public release candidate of Kunena 5.2, a native Joomla extension for Joomla 3.9. This is a development release and should be only be used for testing; this version is not recommended for live websites at this stage.

The purpose of this release is to encourage testing by downloading, installing and identifying any problems or shortcomings that people may discover. K 5.2.0 RC1 is stable and we are aware that people will discover defects. We encourage you to use the forum to report defects, as soon as they are discovered, so that the development team can work through the problems before the release of K 5.1 as a stable product. Reporting defects does not mean that the problems can or will be fixed. The Kunena team is looking forward to hearing your feedback on how well we have achieved our design goals.

Hi folks,
i´m pretty sure this question was asked already, but the search didn´t really help.

I would like to update from 4.x to 5.x on my joomla site.

Simple question: Is this the right way to do it?
Download the latest version from the Kunena website as a zipped file.
"Install" the new version using the joomla installer to upload the zip file.

This works, without corrupting my catagories, post, users etc?

Some help is much appreciated.

Greetings

Michael

Yes, everything remains, but we still recommend a complete backup, errors could always happen. In Kunena 5.0 is removed the template Blue Eagle, maybe you must also adjust the style. Therefore you should test it previously on a test page.

So, now i updated the forum more or less successful, which means, the site is running, i can see the topics and so on.
But my template is all messed up.
Since i had no other choice, i changed the default template to "crypsis".
I can´t see the Kunena menue anymore and got some entries twice.
Please, i need some help on this. What kind of setting do i have to choose?

Greetings,

Mike
