Kunena 5.2 Beta 1 Released (Yesterday)

The Kunena team is thrilled to announce the first public beta release of Kunena 5.2, a native Joomla extension for Joomla 3.9. This is a development release and should be only be used for testing; this version is not recommended for live websites at this stage.

The purpose of this release is to encourage testing by downloading, installing and identifying any problems or shortcomings that people may discover. K 5.2.0 B1 is stable and we are aware that people will discover defects. We encourage you to use the forum to report defects, as soon as they are discovered, so that the development team can work through the problems before the release of K 5.1 as a stable product. Reporting defects does not mean that the problems can or will be fixed. The Kunena team is looking forward to hearing your feedback on how well we have achieved our design goals.

We use the Forum Latest module on the front page. We also did this back on Joomla 2.5 with Kunena 3.

Each KunenaLatest reference contains a link that leads to the Topic in question.

On the old site, the link was always suffixed with "/unread" meaning that each user would be directed to his latest unread post for the topic.
On our new site, the /unread suffix is not used. I tried to look for a parameter in the backend but without finding any.

Has the /unread parameter disapperad with KunenaLatest 4?

we have fixed that.

Now you have only unread, when you login. Because before guests has unread to, that's wrong.

Sounds good - Except... It doesn't work for us.
When signed in, I get a link like xxxxx.com/forum/andet/842-nd-news?start=696#14256
Exactly the same as when not logged in.

Do you have any idea why?

We use Kunena 4.0.3 with CB 2.0.10 but that should not mean any difference for KunenaLatest, I think...

14256 is the first message id from the topic, so that's why you see it. But when you have unread it should be like 14257 for login user and unread.

Maybe I don't quite understand how /unread works.
When I right-click the link in FrontEnd, and select "Copy link" and then paste in here in this post, does that mean that the "/unread" already made its tricks, and ensured that I got the last unread post in the link; which in my case is 14256?

I find that hard to believe because when looking at the backup of our Joomla! 2.5 site, when it was still running Kunena 3.0.8, the link would appear like: xxxxxx.com/oldj25/forum/andet/842-nd-news/unread , no matter if I am logged in or not, so that confirms your first statement;

Because before guests has unread to, that's wrong.

But you're the expert, so I am open for any ideas or suggestions you might have.
I can offer you to have a look at our site with Admin rights if you want?

Hello,

I have just looked the last change done on Kunena latest and the undread has been removed for everyone. So i will do an another fix to have unread parameter passed when user is logged.

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.
