Hi,

I have a Kunena forum on one of my sites and I want to export a copy of it and import it into another Joomla site. Both Joomla sites are the same versions.

I can install Kunena on the new site without configuring it before the import if that makes this process easier. But I would rather find a way to import the Kunena forum component, plugins, etc. with all the same settings and tables from the current site to the new site without having to install the default Kunena into the new site first.

Can you tell me step-by-step how I can do this safely?

Thanks for any advice!

(First create a database backup from both pages.)

You need following tables from the first page:

all * _kunena tables
all * _kunena extensions tables
all Joomla * _user tables
then install Kunena and extensions

afterwards copy the folders:
/media/kunena/attachments
/media/kunena/avatars

Hi Rich,

Thank you for the reply.

Is there a way to do this without copying the _user tables? I want to import Kunena into an existing site that already has some users in it. So can I edit the _user tables to match the user ID's of the Joomla site where Kunena will be imported into?

Thanks.

You don't need to import the user tables. Kunena also works without these users.
