I was wondering the same thing. My tests show they do nothing at all. There is no official documentation on what they are supposed to do (nor is anything helpful returned by Google) so I cannot tell if this should be reported as a bug or whether I've missed some vital information.

Hello,

I think, I have the same issue.

I'd like to hide the sub categories all the time.

So I set: Display Sub-Categories > Never in category index

But nothing happens. The sub categories are still shown.

Thanks for Kunena :-)

You use temoplate blue eagle? This feature works only with Crypsis.

For me it works correct. I can't see subcategories such as "Exel 2010 or Exel 2013"

Sorry, that's why I disabled the sub-categories in the meantime via CSS:

#kunena ul.inline li {display: none;}

This could be a solution, too. If there is no way to make a configuration setting.

Right now I enabled the sub-categories again. Please go to:

Maybe the sub-categories are shown because they are sub-sub-categories (4th level)?

Thanks

Yes, I see the subcategories now. But the address is .../forum/word.
"word" is a own category. The settings in the backend has affect only on the index page.
