Kunena 6.4.9 & Kunena 7.0.1 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.4.9 [K 6.4.9] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.0.x/5.1.x/5.2.x/5.3.x/5.4.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.4

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.1 [K 7.0.1] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.0.x/5.1.x/5.2.x/5.3.x/5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

Important note: Go to the Kunena Dashboard after an upgrade so that the Kunena database tables are also updated. This is particularly necessary for major version jumps so that the table changes are adapted.

Topics must relate to a currently supported version of Kunena. If you are unsure what is the current supported version of Kunena, please go to the download page.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

How can I set configuration to ensure that a user who sends a message or replies to a topic in Kunena also receives a copy of that email (email notification) themselves?

The user can ‘edit’ their Kunena profile and set the ‘Subscribe as default’ function to ‘YES’ in the ‘Set up forum’ tab.
You can do the same in the backend as an administrator in the user's profile.

However, in the Kunena configuration, ‘Allow subscriptions’ must be set to “YES” in the ‘Subscriptions’ tab.

To my knowledge "‘Subscribe as default’ function to ‘YES’ in the ‘Set up forum’ tab." is done, but if I place a message/topic in the forum all subscribers receive an email but not myself.
In the profile the line COM_KUNENA_USER_HIDEEMAIL is set to YES. Is this not correct ? It only means that the emailadress is not shown in the message?

This request cannot be fulfilled in Kunena. To do so, you would need to install a messenger.
There used to be messenger desktop apps, which, to my knowledge, were discontinued in 2025.
Such apps are now only available for social media services.

Nevertheless disappointing that a "subscriber" placing an item on the Forum doesn't receive the email himself, so he can not check how the email looks like.
