Kunena 7.0.4 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

Topics must relate to a currently supported version of Kunena. If you are unsure what is the current supported version of Kunena, please go to the download page.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

Question How best to update from 6.1.3.2 to the latest version?

Hi there all

I have an old 6.1.3.2 version of Kunena installed on a site running on Joomla 4.3.4. The extension manager prompts an update to Kunena 6.2.0 but fails when I try via the update manager, with an error stating that  Joomla needs updating first. Joomla, in turn, is asking for a Kunena update before updating it, and it is quite a significant version jump for both systems.

I think I probably need to manually download older Joomla and Kunena versions, staggering the updates to try to bring them both up to the most current version compatibility possible, but I am unsure of which sequence to follow without crashing the forum or site in the process.

I see that the 6.2 release is compatible with J4.3, 4.4 and J5, so have downloaded that from the GitHub link; imagine I can then update Joomla to 4.4; then proceed to follow with the 6.3 in Kunena etc.? Should I do the latest versions of the 6.2 available for 4.3, etc.

I would appreciate any guidance as to how best to proceed.

Many thanks,
Alison

1. to be on the safe side, make a complete backup of your website
2. backup Kunena database tables and a copy of the /media/kunena folder
3. uninstall Kunena via the Joomla! installer
4. upgrade Joomla
5. test if Joomla works without errors
6. install the latest Kunena
7. Call up the Kunena dashboard. The Kunena tables are then updated automatically.
8. test if Kunena works without errors

Important! Always create a backup before you make any changes to your website!
