Question v 6.3.4, Invalid stats and topic indicators

we just upgraded to 6.3.4 and at the same time discovered numerous spam users and topics.  We went thru and banned each user and selected "delete all posts" and now we have every category showing unread topics even though there are no topics in those categories.
1) why were these users able to make spam posts when captcha is enabled and so is the anti-spam tool in kunena ( I forget its name ) 
2) how can we delete all these invalid topics.
3) how do we fix the broken statistics tool

The stats tool shows divide by zero error when used.

clean up or repair everything here and the message will not appear anymore

Did you open Kunena dashboard immediately after installing update?

1. Captcha doesn't block every spammer unfortunately. You can try installing plugin OSpam-a-not, which may reduce spam registrations.

ok, after clearing the cache while tools was open, it allowed the statistics to reset and the main problem has gone away.
Now, using ospam-a-not are there any settings that need to be configured?

Just install and enable.
