Hi, I've installed Kunena on an existing site.

All of the users have the rank Administrator, and I'm not able to change them, how do I change them?

and

is this why I am not able to assign Category Permissions?

Thanks,

Paul

Have this user all Administrator rights? If yes, then you must check your Joomla register options and Joomla user management. Kunena has no own user, and Joomla Administrators get also in Kunena Admin rights.

is this why I am not able to assign Category Permissions?

Administrators have access to all categories. No matter which category permission is set.
