I had to change from session database to session PHP on my site due to growing session table like 25 GB from almost nothing. However after this change user status like online cant be changed. On my local site I have found out that it is caused by the setting PHP for session.
Joomla 3.9 and Kunena 5.1.6, because it works when I revert to setting session database. The advantage with PHP session is that its faster as its stored in memory.
