Question Kunena 2.01 will not load on live site, but works fine on local install

I'm currently running Joomla! 2.5.4 and Kunena 2.01. I can get Kunena to load fine when running on a local server, but Kunena will not load anything except the footer when running on the live site (no menus, no 'recent discussions', etc).
Local Server: PHP 5.4.5, Mysql 5.5
Live Server: PHP 5.2.9, Mysql 5.1.39

Note: Live Server is shared web hosting and I have no control of the php version or mysql version.

The live site and local site are exact copies of each other (I got the site working local first then published db and site files to live server).

When I click my Forum Menu item, it only loads the footer "Powered by Kunena Forum" at the top of the page. I'm sure its something obvious I'm overlooking, but I just can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

My Kunena config file is below...

How did you make your "live site" with Kunena from your PC-hosted site? What tool(s) did you use?

As much as people think that it's a good idea to use something like XAMPP, MAMP, WAMP or something like that, I think most professional web developers agree that such tools are only useful if you want to establish a quick "proof-of-concept" but these platforms are not truly practicable when you're preparing a site for live operations. The reasons for saying this are many and the reasons why people should not prepare their websites in this way are too many to discuss here.

I played with XAMPP when I was learning how to build websites, before I built my first website, and I don't think I've used it since. That was about 4 years ago.

The simplest, easiest way to clone a website (files and database) is to use Akeeba Backup. But, even there, cloning a site that works in one environment may not necessarily produce a site that works in a different environment. And it's for that reason, and that reason alone, that it's better to do your serious web development in the environment where the production site will be run.

Perhaps something broke when you used the site copy tools that you used? I don't know.

The short answer is that I don't know why your site works in one environment and does not work in another environment because there are too many variables involved. The main variable that's involved in your case is Microsoft IIS/7.5. You should discuss special issues involving running Joomla under IIS/7.5 the the Joomla team - go to forum.joomla.org - and see if they have any suggestions for you.

Thanks for the reply and the info. I know what you are saying about the local vs live, but in this case that's exactly what I was trying to do (proof of concept). I first tried installing Kunena on my live site and when it wouldn't load, I figured something went wrong on install with path permissions, etc, so I decided to run it local to see if I got same results. It installed and worked fine local, so I got it configured how I wanted, etc and then dumped the site on the production server and replaced it (database and files). The site is still a couple months from being live so I have some time to hopefully get it working. You may be on to something with the IIS 7.5 thing. Didn't think about that. I'm running IIS 6 on Win2K3 on local setup.

Thanks again,
Jason
