Hello. I'm new to Joomla and Kunena and not sure if my problem is Joomla, Kunena or some configuration issue. Sorry if I use wrong place to aks.

I can't upload new smile to server using Kunena Emoticon manager. I just get message "Error. Unable to upload emoticon". I have Joomla 2.5.6 and Kunena 2.0. No more modules or plagins. Things I check:
1. I try to upload smile to emoticons directory via ftp - all is ok. After that I try to give emoticons folder full (777) permission - still can't upload new smile.
2. Joomla ftp layer is off. However I was able to upload file to server using Joomla Media Manager.
3. Not sure about MooTools part. I can insert smiles when post on forum or edit profile (these things were highlighted as signal that you have problems with MooTools).

Can you, please, advice what else I can check, where look and so on. I suspect that maybe some configuration options are not turned on by my hoster or disabled by default.

G'day, Sergei, and welcome to Kunena.

K 2.0.0 is very new and we cannot be sure that every feature has been thoroughly tested. I would like to hear if anyone else has reported that they have tested the function and can tell us if the function works! The last time I tested this (in an earlier development version of Kunena) it worked.

However ...

We often receive questions from people who have problems uploading emoticons, avatars, image attachments, other attachments - basically upload anything and everything - and the reasons are different. It is also unfortunate that the Joomla error messages (like, "Error. Unable to upload emoticon") do not offer a comprehensive detailed explanation about why the errors happen.

To start with, I suggest you read Securing Kunena and make sure that all folders have the same owner and permissions and the same goes, too, for all files in your Joomla site directory. I hope that helps.

I have confirmed that this is not working but I have only tested on a local setup.
