Kunena 6.3.0 released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.3.0 [K 6.3.0] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.4.x/5.0.x/5.1.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.3

Ive looked through the current threads but don't see a real clear answer. I have legacy turned off (I don't use it). I also have CB upgraded to 1.8 (latest).
I now want to upgrade my k1.64 to the latest version and I also want to upgrade (or migrate) my joomla to the latest version (or at least 2.x).
So, in easy to understand terms, what are the steps I need to take? I was planning to download latest version of kunena and just do an upgrade but the few things I have found sounds like that might not work?
I was then going to upgrade joomla.

Help anyone? anything I should be aware that might crash the site?
