Kunena 6.2.5 & module Kunena Latest 6.0.7 released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.2.5 [K 6.2.5] which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.3.x/4.4.x/5.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.1 / K 6.2 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.2

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

Question Link Spam with Kunena 2.0

Hi, to reduce spam, I allow users to post urls to websites, as long as they're not clickable links. Normally if you remove the http and www. from links, they aren't clickable. In Kunena 2.0 however, it seems to automatically make links clickable links regardless, even if a user omits the http and www. portion of the link. How do I fix this? This is a spam issue and prefer to keep links non-clickable when a user omits the http or www from the link.

Hello,

You can't do that, in Kunena configuration panel, in security tab, you can use the Moderate New Users function.

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

I don't see an option about making links non-clickable?

I'm going to include some examples, to be describe the link glitch. I'm trying to make a non-clickable link, by pasting a url without the http:// or www. link elements. Many forums allow urls, as long as they're aren't clickable links.

Example 1: example.com (this is the homepage url, but without the http:// or www. link elements) it's not clickable (this is correct and how it should be)

Example 2: example.com/page1 (note: the only diffrence is it's not the homepage. It's also without the http:// or www. link elements added to is, just likethe example above) it is clickable? The trailing page or folder makes Kunena "convert" it into a clickable link in error.

Why does the homepage work correctlyhhowever other pages are clickable (when they shouldn't be)?

Again, these are the two examples (only difference being one is the homepage, the other isn't):

example.com
example.com/123

Only difference is one is homepage, the other isn't the homepage. Both are without the http:// and www. link elements, so neither should be clickable, when they are without http:// and www. link elements.

Its really easy to fight link spam if you have 2 - 3 moderator on you forum that "punish" the members that do link spam with 1 - 2 day "soft" ban (still be able to log in but not able to post), but you will need a basic regulation for users to go by.

And also xillibit option is very good because you can set a limit of 15 messages, if that user in this limit shows that the only interest shown is spamming them just ban him because you wont need that person!

THank you Skybax, but I really need this glitch fixed. It's not a new user issue or a post count issue.. Ths glitch is Kunena is conveting urls without http or www. into clickable links. This hasn't existed in previous Kunena versions. I don't want even veteran users to post clickable links. Right now, it's not possible to post non-clickable urls, even without http:// or www. added to them, unless it's a homepage url. Homepages work okay, however non-homepage urls are the ones that do this in error.

Again, the users understand the rules, and prior they understoode how to make links unclickable, however now ability has been removed, because it's not possible post non-clicable urls now, because Kunena is converting non-homepage urls without the www. or http link attributes, into clickable links in error.

Just a test, kunena.org

You are correct, this is not an intended behavior and I will file a bug report. Our parser should not be adding links for non tags.

Thank you for your help, Coder4life. If there is a hack or a way I can fix this in the bbcode.php or other parser file without needing to do a full new install, please let me know.. :). I believe it's a setting in the bbcode.php file, but I'm not sure what to change.

I'm actually fine with main urls (homepages) are okay: example.com (note it's not without the http:// or www.)

It's the other pages, that are always auto-converting to links, even without http:// or www

non homepage url: example.com/page1

homepage url: example.com

homepage with trailing slash: example.com/

(all of these urls were posted without http or www. in front of them or any url tags).

Hi Coder4life, I know the Kunena team is pretty busy, do you know about long it takes for them to look into the clickable link glitch? I believe it's in the bbcode.php file, but I'm not sure how to fix.

Hello to all.

The same problem led me to this topic.

Since I have upgraded to Kunena 2.0, I have the same problem.

Administer a site complaints (already suffered many attacks) I receive span with malware, users ghost from romania and other countries.

Do not allow links in the topic would be the best solution.

We hope it will solve soon.

Thank you for your time.
