Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

G'day, debonair86, and welcome to Kunena.

Could you please explain more about how you are storing the DOB and gender information within Joomla.

Hello, nice to meet you... in the registration form I have enabled the plugin "user profile", so as in the form to show the the date of birth, Im using also k2 and Ive enabled gender field.
So...I want these two fields to synchronize with the kunena fields. I hope that makes sense B)

I understand. You have customised Joomla to add extra information. Now I hope you will understand our problem: how do we modify Kunena to allow for an infinite variety of customised implementations of Joomla?

At this time, the resources available to the Kunena developers only permit a synchronicity between Kunena and a basic, unmodified version of Joomla. Even here (at www.kunena.org ) where additional information is sought from people who register at this site, we do not have the means, yet, to apply that information to the Kunena user profile and, speaking only for myself, I would dearly love to see that happen. The stark reality is that, at this time, the Kunena user profile is fairly fixed in structure. Kunena still has a way to go (in terms of user profiling) to reach a comparable state with the likes of other products like JomSocial and Community Builder, for example.

However, unlike other Joomla extensions that specialise in user profiling, the Kunena team's goal is to ensure that Kunena is the best possible web-based discussion forum extension available to people who choose to use Joomla to develop their sites. For those people who require additional features that allow for the collection and display of demographic data, there are other Joomla extensions available that handle these things and that also accommodate the ability to obtain that information when users register at your site. I've mentioned two such extensions above; these work with Kunena.

Kunena is open source. This means that if you have the time and the skill (or, if you lack the skill, the money to pay someone to do the job for you) you can modify Kunena to accommodate the requirement.

The short answer to your original question is that, for the reasons I have outlined above, the facility you have requested does not currently exist in Kunena.
