Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

I have a J2.5.7 site with Kunena 2.0.2 forum. I have some questions and have attached screenshot images to reference:

1) Why do the new Kunena version Top Level/Sub Level categories have some differences in the Alias and the Permissions screens?
Should I re-create the Categories in K2.0.2 that were created under the old versions of Kunena to have them updated with the new settings/options of K2.0.2?
Or is it fine just to leave the old Categories as they are?

2) I don't understand why the old Categories have 3 alias' in the Category edit screens and two of them use the Category ID number in the alias, but the new Categories created in K2.0.2 do not have the category ID number and only one alias.
Can I uncheck/remove the old alias (the ones with the category ID numbers in them) and just use the actual alias for all the categories?

3) Has the Kunena Discuss plugin been fixed yet for the bug that prevents Guests from posting first in articles?

4) I uninstalled Kunena from a subdomain site I have. Can I remove/delete all Kunena_ tables in the database after uninstalling Kunena on my subdomain site? Should I use PhpMyAdmin to remove those empty/old Kunena tables in the database?

Thanks for any advice!

I haven't done the research for you, nemmar, but I am certain that we've discussed these issues in the last month on this forum. Have you tried searching for "permission" in the topic title?

Hi Sozzled,

Before posting my question I searched all the topics I could find using "Category alias" type of phrases and did not find anything to answer my question. I didn't search for permissions so I will do that after I solve this alias issue.

Can you tell me the answers to my questions 2,3,4?

2) I don't understand why the old Categories have 3 alias' in the Category edit screens and two of them use the Category ID number in the alias, but the new Categories created in K2.0.2 do not have the category ID number and only one alias.

4) I uninstalled Kunena from a subdomain site I have. Can I remove/delete all Kunena_ tables in the database after uninstalling Kunena on my subdomain site? Should I use PhpMyAdmin to remove those empty/old Kunena tables in the database?

Thanks for any advice.

2) If you change or remove aliases then your forum may or may not work if there are references in old posts using older category names that you may have used once upon a time. If you rename a category then the Category Manager preserve the old alias names in case you have references on your site to them. Change or remove category alias names at your own risk.

3) Different question and different topic. See the category K 2.0 + Kunena Discuss (P) for further information or post your question there.

4) I don't know. It depends on what you want to do and why you want to do this. I do not understand how this question relates to the subject of this topic.

I have DB Replacer so can you tell me what table contains the old alias references that might still be needed? I only see the Cat ID numbers (no alias) in the "messages" table. And in the "categories" table I only see the all text alias names with no ID numbers in those alias names. So I'm not clear on where I could check to see if the old alias' for categories have any linked posts/messages to determine if I can remove the old category alias'.

The reason I want to remove the un-needed Kunena tables in a subdomain database is because I uninstalled the extension and don't need the forum on that site. I thought it would be better to remove the unnecessary Kunena tables from the database. But if you think it could cause problems then I won't remove the tables.
