Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

It looks like the default configuration for Kunena (I'm using version 2.0.2) is that the person who posts a message in a topic does not received an email notification about the posting. Am I correct?

If so, is there a configuration option that will allow me to have my forum send out an email to the user posting a topic? Essentially i would like for every user subscribed a topic to get an email when something is posted to the topic. This should include the original or subsequent posting authors.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Turn on the Subscribed feature in Kunena admin, and everyone is automatically subscribed to any topic they create or reply to.

Kunena Admin -> Forum Configuration -> Users -> Check Subscription Box = Yes

Please read the FAQ.
Only one question per topic.

Jiminimonka is correct. If you want users to receive emails about topics they have posted on the forum they need to subscribe to those topics (there is a "subscribe" option when they post (a checkbox that has the caption "Check this box to be notified of replies to this topic") which they can tick when then post (just as you will see on the bottom of the form if you reply to this topic). You can arrange things so that this checkbox is always "ticked" - as Jiminimonka suggested in his response to your question.

People can also subscribe (or unsubscribe) later to topics with options when they view the topic. People can also subscribe to a category and, when they do this, they will be notified of all messages posted in those categories. I hope this helps.

I think the others may have missed the point of your question here, though I can understand why.
The short answer is yes, you are correct. The person who posts a message, whether its a new topic or a reply NEVER gets an email telling them that is what they just did. They do get emails when anyone else posts, assuming they remain subscribed to that topic or category.

This is not just by default. It is permanent, and non-configurable.

What I don't understand is why you would ask? What would be the purpose in me getting an email to tell me I just posted this message? I already know I did it :-)
