Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

1 A admin cant see the poll result without voting and this i think is a problem because by voting as admin you are influencing the result.

[strike]2 Who is online i dosent work anymore, you cant click on it and see that are the most interesting topics for your members (what users read in that moment)

3 the General statistic is not working properly. why do you need to show you statistic in the frontend were anyone can see to be able to have it in the backend. ( in 1.7 you dident have this problem so i think its a bug even though sozzled replied to a member that this in normal)

4 the rules tab in kunena menu is gone so you cant link to an article id and display the content in a elegant way, now you have a 400x400 box were you write down the text named Miscellaneous Pages >> Custom Content[/strike]

This are features that Kunena 2.0 lost from its previous versions

1. Agree with the polls viewing when an admin. I want to view and review the poll without having to vote on it.

still wish that i can write my forum signature through a jomsocial plugin and do it from my jomsocial profile :(

Hello,

this can be a feature request, this is a good point.

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

I agree with you, mate. I haven't used the polling feature much. Do you remember if, in K 1.6/K 1.7, the administrator could see the poll results without having to vote? I have a feeling that this might have been possible in an older version but my memory is a bit hazy now.

There are pluses and minuses about allowing anyone to see the results of a poll before they vote (because seeing the results of a running poll may influence voting behaviours and outcomes) but, rather than allowing only site administrators with the ability to see the results of a poll-in-progress, I think it would be better if the person who conducts the poll should be the one who could see the results (without having to vote themselves).

So I would see five options:

(1) Allow no-one the ability to view poll results unless they vote;
(2) Allow everyone the ability to view poll results without having to vote;
(3) Allow only the topic oner the ability to view poll results without having to vote; and
(4) Allow administrators the ability to view poll results without having to vote;
(5) Allow administrators and the topic owner the ability to view poll results without having to vote.

Allowing different configuration options would have to be a feature request because this requires changing the database and therefore would result in the development of completely new version. In the meantime, perhaps one of the above options could be implemented in the meanwhile?

One more aspect that I think should be considered, too. If you run time-restricted polling then I think that the results should be viewable to everyone at the end of the polling period whether they voted or not.

Yes in Kunena 1.7 the administrator could see the poll result without voting.

And also i want to bring in question the ability to change the vote by members. This option can influence the poll result. Any opinion about this ?

You can disable the option to change the vote by member. Go in Kunena configuration panel, in tab Extra and in the bottom you will have some options for polls.

I think it's the normal behaviour that the admins can't see polls results before that they have voted. Some improvements need to do on polls
