Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

Question Changing avatars

Changing avatars was created by Mr Livered
I have a rather strange issue which I haven't found reference to on these forums or elsewhere.

Some of my users are finding that their avatars are randomly changing. They will log on one day, and their avatar will be an apparently random selection - I believe it's always one from the avatar gallery - to replace whatever custom avatar they had uploaded and been happily using for some time.

Many of the users are getting rather annoyed about it, and now that it has happened to me this morning I can see why!

It's K 2.0.2 (though it happened with previous versions too) and J 1.7.3.

I just wanted to ask a general question to see whether anyone had ideas about what might be happening, or perhaps had experienced the same problem, but of course I can give more specifics of the site if desired.

Thanks :)

Do you have a second/custom avatar gallery? Your configuration report will help. One "random" thought, in passing: if I could hold "J! 1.7.3" in my bare hands, it as far as I could throw it.

Thanks Sozzled. There was a subdirectory within the avatar gallery, containing some images with identical filenames... it's been there a long time but I've deleted it and we'll see if it makes a difference.

I agree with you about 1.7.3. I'd love to upgrade but when I do so on my test server I get all sorts of problems, so I can't upgrade the live site until I've solved them. But at least I can run the brand new Kunena :)

Right well, people's avatars are still changing to apparently random avatars, at apparently random intervals. This only happens to an apparently random selection of the forum's users, although it seems that it is becoming increasingly common.

So, I would be extremely grateful of any suggestions about where to look!

Although I can't help with your avatar issue, I see that you have not got Kunena Login updated to 2.0.2, so I would advise you to update that and any other Kunena modules to the latest version.

You have a number of Kunena plugins activated that you do not need. Disable all integration with AlphaUserPoints, Community Builder and JomSocial (because you do not have these products installed). I agree with Jiminimonka about using Kunena Login 1.7.0 (read the important information in Before you post your question, read this first ) but I would also add that, if people are having any kinds of problems with K 2.0, please try using the K 2.0 Blue Eagle template.

Last, but not least, try using a standard Kunena menu. Look at the video guide in The Kunena Menu .

These things may not necessarily be the cause of your problems but, before we head down the path of analysis, it vital that we get the system in the best possible shape that we can. I hope this helps.
