Kunena 6.2.5 & module Kunena Latest 6.0.7 released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.2.5 [K 6.2.5] which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.3.x/4.4.x/5.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.1 / K 6.2 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.2

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

Hello all!

I'm new to Kunena and playing around with it.
But I do have a question, and I don't know if it is posible...

I want to set up a kind of community. Each of the users has to register and choose a group/forum to belong to.
A user has to be able to post messages in the chosen forum. Only to the users of that forum.
In the end the site will end up with +- 20 groups, each counting +-50 members.

Is this possible, or do I have to create 20 different kunena forums?

Yes it's possible. Set up a category for each user and, if you like, assign that user to be a moderator within that category.

Ok, categories. But a user has to be able to chose a category by himself (only 1!).
And that is something I can't find in the configuration?

Example;
During the registration (where you have to give your name, username,....) they should be able to chose a certain categorie.
And they only should be able to post messages visible for that categorie.

Thx!

I think an administrator will need to assign new users to the specific group(s) you've created in the Joomla ACL and associated with the various subforums in Kunena.

ok thx.
I will have to look to another solution than.
I really need user to self register to a certain group (and only that group).

Users cannot "assign themselves" to a specific forum category that is protected by ACL security. Until such time as Joomla implements a registratuon system that allows, at registration time, which a selection of choice for the new member then I think your wish is a far-off fantasy. Using a very simple analogy, it's a bit like saying - at the time of registration - "Select from the following categories: ordinary user, author, editor, publisher, manager, administrator, superadministrator." Well, Joomla doesn't give new members this choice and we are not aware of any other forum product that accommodates this requirement.

From what you said, if you only have a small forum in the first place and if people can wait a little bit of time from when they register until when you can assign them the necessary moderation and/or ACL adjustments, I would not imagine your "problem" to be a deal-breaker.
