Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

Hello

I want to make a category at my Kunena 2.0.1 where any registered user can start a topic. Both authors and moderators should have a full access to the topic but anybody else should not ever see it. Is this possible?

thx

G'day, mdsqr, welcome to Kunena and thank you for a very interesting question. The answer to your question is yes and no.

Yes, it's possible for a person to start a topic and that the only people who can reply to the topic can be authors and forum moderators but, no, it's not possible to secure the contents of the original post and all the replies so that the only people who can read the contents are the topic creator and those others.

There are ways, however, that you can retain confidentiality. If you have a spare hour or two I could discuss some ideas with you.

This would be an interesting challenge for any web-based discussion forum; I have yet to see one that has solved this problem. The functional requirement would be better met, in my opinion, with a help-desk application and maybe that's something you might like to investigate.

Kunena is not a help-desk application.

Which ways do you mean?

Yes I can find some joomla component for this. Perhaps I should stop thinking Vb way and start thinking joomla way instead :)

As I wrote, if you have a couple of hours to discuss this issue and consider a range of ideas, I would be prepared to invest some of that time with you. I am not, however, going to canvass a broad range of options, some of which may not be agreeable to you, on the off-chance that one or two ideas may be acceptable, I simply do not have that much time. I believe in the principle that nothing is impossible but everything has a cost. At this time I am merely suggesting that the cost is our time to discuss possible ideas and that's all I am suggesting.
