Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

Question Allowing Admins to use normal ranks

Is there a way to have an admin remain an admin (with the powers and all that) but use the regular rankings? I want to go through the ranks like everyone else. In the basic settings under Users I selected No Rank Assigned but it still shows me as an Administrator with the full ranks on the front end.

The short answer to your question is no. You cannot do this with the standard version of Kunena. I'm fairly sure that this would not be a difficult thing to fix by hacking the PHP source code - if you know where to look - but I don't know exactly what you would need to do. It would probably take me (someone who hasn't look closely at the PHP source for many many months) an hour or two to find out what you would need to do and post the information here for you.

Perhaps another member of the community has already done this in K 2.0 and would be willing to share their solution here for you?

I'm sorry I can't give you a detailed solution but, as I've mentioned (and as far as I know), what you have asked for is not a standard feature of any version of Kunena that has been created since the project began 4½ years ago.

Okay, I see. I will see about figuring out how to do that. So what does choosing "No Rank Assigned" do? It didn't appear to change anything.

No rank assigned means that
  1. for people who do not have forum moderator privileges (including site adminis), the rank will be "calculated" on the basis of the number of messages posted by the user
  2. if the administrator has assigned a user as a moderator, the rank of "Moderator" will be used; and
  3. for site administrators, the rank of "Administrator" will be used.

If you want a anyone to have a different, non-calculated rank then you have to change the value from "No Rank Assigned" to something else.
