Question New category invite only

Hi folks!

I'd like create a new category invite only. Only users invitated can see the posts.

Is there a way to do this?

Yes and no.

You can create a category called "Invite only" and secure it so that only certain people who hold the necessary access control permission can view it but, changing a user's access control persmission (ACL group) can only be done by someone who has access to your site backend.

There are other ways that you can automate the process - to allow people to obtain additional ACL permissions - for example, you could require people to use some shopping cart (e.g. PayPal) function and, after they've satisfied certain requirements - they may be able to obtain the additional access rights that would give them the ability to view topics in a "restricted" category or categories.

Is there a way to create a new topic and send the notifications to participate in this topic by sending an invite to only a few set of people. An extension or something withing this kunena forum?

I'm not aware of a facility for doing this, no. Sorry.

Invite only categories can be created either in JomSocial or GroupJive. Both have integration to Kunena (more or less).

Can we include an email button option in the boardcode which when clicked can open up an email editor overlay or instead add an email field on this page while creating a new topic in kunena 2.0.3

please help me, this is urgently needed.

K 2.0.3 is unsupported; the current latest stable version is K 2.0.4. K 2.0 is at end of life and no further enhancements are planned for inclusion in K 2.0.

Perhaps this could be something that may be looked into after K 3.1 (which is about 2-3 months away).

If the need is genuinely urgent, you might consider offering someone in the community payment to write this enhancement for you. I suggest you look at the category Custom work - offering to pay for these kinds of things. See also "Invite a friend" button wanted which is a request from another member of the community for something similar to what you have asked.
