Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

when giving someone a ban through kunena, it seems that after the site ban expiry, the user was not reactivated. Do we have to manually unban people?

not sure if this also happens for a 'forum only' ban? do we need to manually activate these and if so how is this done?

still wish that i can write my forum signature through a jomsocial plugin and do it from my jomsocial profile :(

Theoretically (and it remains to be proved) if you "sin bin" someone for a certain period of time, after the time has elapsed, the banned user can then use your forum again. I've never had any requests from people I've sin-binned to reactivate their accounts.

In kunena you can do two types of bans - forum and site

If you do a site ban it blocks them in Joomla. So if you put an expiry on the ban, when that expiry happens it does not seem to unblock the joomla user though. So the user remains banned from the site.

is this a bug or is this how it is meant to happen? seems like a bug to me as you would want them to automatically be unbanned after their 'sinbinning' is up.

You may be right. I really have no idea. I've asked this question before, of the moderator team, and the answer I received was this: if you want to sin-bin someone, then put an expiry date on it and after the time is up they will automatically be allowed to resume their access. I've never tried sin-binning by refusing them access to the website (hardly seems to serve any real purpose in my opinion but everyone's different). If, on the other hand, you block their account then I really don't know what happens in those circumstances.

I've never tested it (blocking a user from the site for x days); I've only ever used "ban from forum" when I want to give someone a warning. If I really want to throw 'em out, I do so with prejudice: ban from site indefinitely. So, I don't have any concrete information for you.

Perhaps you might like to participate in our Skype testers chat where you we can discuss this issue for a couple of hours?
