Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

I want to limit the creation of polls to the administrators only. Is there a way to do this. I went through all the categories of Kunena's configurations, but have not found how I can limit this.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

This is a good question and I do not have a good answer for you.

What you could do is create a category that will be used mainly for polls (ones started by administrators) and set the category permissions so that only admins can create new topics. Would that work for you?

I wouldn't think so, because if this category is limited to admins only, then the registered users wouldn't be allowed to take part in the poll.

I believe my only solution is to run the poll through Joomla, instead of putting it in Kunena.

But thanks for the suggestion.

That's not what I meant.

I meant, do this:

Under Kunena Category Manager (Permissions tab):

Access Control Type = User Groups
Primary User Group = Registered
Primary Includes Child Groups = Yes
Secondary User Group = Administrators
Primary Includes Child Groups = Yes
User Groups Allowed To Post = Administrators
User Groups Allowed To Reply = Registered

With those settings, only Administrators can create new topics. Because Administrators are the only ones who can create new topics, only Administrators can create polls. Registered users can reply (and can vote). Try those settings and let us know if it works.

Ok! Thanks I'll try that and post the results, if things work or not.
