Kunena 7.0.6 & Kunena 6.4.12 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.6 [K 7.0.6] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the twelfth version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

My issue is PERFORMANCE! (Sorry for caps lock, but I'm listening it every day since I migrate my forum to kunena)

My Kunena forum has more than 600k messages and 12k topics with more than 18k users. I really need some nice cache system to make it working nice.

My question about the Kunena cache can be exploded in:
1 - This cache depends on Joomla cache (selected on Global Configuration)? Or it's an independent system optimized to forum system?
2 - This cache is a file cache? Where this files are stored?
3 - This cache stores the final page result or some intermediate code to reduce database querys and php execution time?
4 - Kunena makes cache of database transactions? (because foruns needs a lot of sql querys)
5 - When Joomla Cache Plugin (native) is activate, it makes Kunena faster? Users not logged in will see changes in real time or they will see with some gap of time?

Thanks!

Does your forum have a lot of categories? Because of I got hands to a large forum with 1M posts a few days ago and I found out that Joomla routing, ACL checks and loading categories to memory are slowing down that particular site after migrating from phpbb3. So now I'm in the middle of a process of finding solution to those issues.

1 - Currently Kunena uses only very basic caching as advanced caching hasn't been tested well enough and still has some issues. But yes, caching can be turned on and of from Joomla.
2 - See your Joomla settings.
3 - Queries are generally very fast and half of the time goes into above issues. Caching (which is currently turned off) is saving some pre-calculated information, routing information, and individual items inside the pages.
4 - Like I said, there are only 15-25 queries per page and most of them are optimized to use MySQL result cache in optimal way making them very fast to run. There may be some bad queries still, but in Kunena 2.0 the slowdown isn't coming from the DB.
5 - System - Cache plugin should never be used for dynamical content. It will cause odd error messages to appear to guests. And it doesn't affect registered users at all.
