Question Cannot get rid of Avatar placeholder in message bodies

Hi, for some reason I am unable to remove the image placeholder box for the user's Avatar in the message body. Is it even possible to do so? It's kind of annoying, we're a small group, it's really not needed.

Also in the "Welcome, <userid>" in the top menu just under the tabs for the options, there is another avatar placeholder that I cannot remove.

Could someone please tell me what the setting is to remove these to items?

Thanks!

Welcome to Kunena!

I think that you have found a bug. The setting "Display Avatar = No" has no effect.
You can hide this also via css.

Add at the end in your Joomla template.css following code:
Code:
#Kunena .kprofilebox-left, #Kunena .kpost-profile span.kavatar img, #Kunena .kprofilebox .kavatar, #Kunena div.kavatar-lg { display: none; }

Important! Always create a backup before you make any changes to your website!

Thank you, that worked! It got rid of the avatar placeholders, but now I have a forum page that displays this:

Any idea how to clean that up a bit? You seem pretty knowledgeable with .css.

I cannot find a setting in the configuration to hide the avatar when you view a topic.

There are settings to show the avatar image in the userlist and in the category and recent topics view. But these settings to no control displaying the avatar image (like you see when you look at this message) when you view a topic.

In "Extra > Display Avatar"

@dan40,
the code should actually work. But if we don't see your page, we can not exactly help.

That setting is to show or hide the avatar in the userlist, I thought.
