Solved Selectable Topic Icons

Hello everybody,
I upgraded to Kunena 2 from 1.7.
In K 1.7 we had smiling faces as Selectable Topic Icons, in K 2 there are no more.
I have thousands of users compaining about that, they want them back! They really loved to see those happy faces while browsing the forum.
Are you planning to add them back?
If not, is there a way I can add them?

Please read K 2.0 Guide to topic icon usage . The information that you need is also answered in that article. The Kunena team decided that the old friendly-looking "smiley" topic icons were not really good enough to give Kunena that professional look. The team decided that it was time that these images were replaced with something better, something more intuitive that conveyed more of a sense as to what the topic was about.

The old "smiley" images conveyed happy or sad and we did not like seeing "sad" on a technical self-help forum. That's why we changed the images and, as far as I can see, nearly everyone who uses this forum agrees that the change was for the better. If, however, you would prefer to use something else, that's something you can easily look after yourself.

Perhaps, in a future version of Kunena, a feature may appear that gives you an easier way to "select" different topic icons instead of the standard ones that are shipped with the Kunena software installation kit.

For those interested in getting back the smiley icons (they're still available but just hidden):
- edit the file yourwebsite/media/kunena/topicicons/default/topicicons.xml
- uncomment the 3 smiley icons
- save and upload
