Usually, HTTP 500 Internal Server Error problems are caused by something outside Kunena. The standard approach to analysing and understanding the cause(s) of these issues is to enabled Joomla debug mode (and possible Kunena debug mdoe) and check for more information in the error messages (or look at the webserver log). Nearly every case of HTTP 500 Internal Server Error is caused by something unique.

I think what is causing the issue is the login module. There is one for Kunena another for JomSocial, another the is the site login. How does it know which one to use?

I went through the forum here and I found over 500 messages about HTTP 500 Internal Server Errors. Just about every case was different.
HTTP 500 Internal Server Errors hit just about everyone at some point or another. The error message itself is meaningless - they're the most difficult error messages to understand - but Joomla give a few clues how to solve them. In that respect, Joomla is better than if you were writing web software yourself.
I think this is an important subject: what causes HTTP 500 Internal Server Errors? While we don't know the specific cause of every kind of HTTP 500 Internal Server Error, there is a standard approach to diagnosing them, analysing and fixing the problem. The trouble is that there isn't an easy-to-follow 100% guaranteed-to-work-every-time document to help everyone. Some of these errors are really tricky! :side:
Because this is an important subject, I'm in the process of writing a Wiki article that might help a lot of new users.
Most of the time, though, the issues that cause a HTTP 500 Internal Server error are outside Kunena. They can, for example, include broken webserver configuration files (e.g. .htaccess), badly-written Joomla extensions, modified Joomla core, insufficient PHP memory and (dare we admit) areas within Kunena that weren't designed to intercept the error in a "cleaner" way. I've written about these things before on a hundred or more occasions (you can search the forum, if you like).
When I've finished writing some better documentation for the Wiki, I'll post the reference for you here. In the meantime, isolate the cause of the problem and disable the Joomla extension that seems to be interfering with Kunena.
