Split threads was created by kootjoo
Hi,

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I have some problems with splitting the threads. For instance let's say I have a thread with 10 messages in it and I want to split this into 2 threads with each 5 messages. Hou do I do that? I can't get it to work properly. I am using the 1.08 version with the default_ex template.

What settings do I use in the splitting screen regarding orphans etc. If I click on the first messages split button I get a list of all the messages, but when I click on the 6th. I only see the 6th messages. Is this correct or am I doing someting wrong.

Furthermore everythings works smoothly and looks great!!!!

Best regards,
KooTjoo

I have found the following problem on the Fireboard forum which is exactly the problem I have. Is it a bug or not following the right procedure please help out.

Ok so here is my bug report. Well just a description of what happens when trying the split function since I don't exactly know how split should function.

The split topic button shows up below all the posts in a certain thread (when in flat mode).

Clicking on the button below the first post in the thread (the topic post) and then selelecting some buttons in the split collumn and one in the topic collumn wil result in just changing the topic of the entire thread, and no splitting at all. Not selecting a button in the topic collumn results in an error: "Select at least one post to split"

Clicking on the button below a normal post wil result in a list which only shows the post you selected. Selecting the topic button in front of it and clicking go will result in a new topic with the selected post as subject. But the post also remain in the thread from which it was split.

Not selecting the button in the topic collumn results in an error: "Select at least one post to split"

BTW. The merge function seems to work ok.

Split does not work well. Just forget it for now and go to vote for new one in:

Thanks,

So splitting as descridbed above doesn't work yet?

It's worth to wait for improvement on this however. What I don't really understand that it is a basic functionality of a forum why is it so low in the votes?

Anyhow keep u the good work Kunena is really great!!!!!

Splitting works only for one message at a time (nobody uses reply to this message as they should ;)) and to the same forum. So it's borken.

My thoughts exactly. It's one of the most needed features in my forum, so I will do this sooner or later. Unfortunately there is only limited hours in a day and too much things to fix. We really need more volunteers to help us with various tasks (like answering to the questions in here and take the burden from the lead developers).

Thanks for your answer. I wish I could help. My knowledge of Joomla is very good but I don't know much about forums. Kunena is the first one and I have learned a lot the last week, and hope to learn much more.

You say: "nobody uses reply to this message as they should" so is there a way that it doesn't get broken. Perhaps I could look at a temporary workaround. It surprises me that so few people mention this problem?? I do not moderate the forum I have made myself, but this was the first question the moderators asked me. Furthermore they are very happy with Kunena (they also use other ones). But the look of Kunena is a huge improvement.

Is there a way I can track the progress on this without bothering you with my questions?

Best regards,
KooTjoo
