Kunena 7.0.4 Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0
Question Does Kunena support fireboard plugins?
One of the joomla vendors I use told me that their search plugin can search fireboard (out of box) and that all I had to do was to implement this plugin with kunena.
from developer --> "for Kunena turn on Fireboard in module settings, you can only search within joomla site"
Now, I am not a developer so I am hesitant to just go do it... Can anyone confirm that there is a way to plug in a fireboard something or another so that my search module can search kunena also????
see attached image of this module in my backed.
Many thanks.

Have you asked the third-party supplier for detailed instructions. Can the third-party supply you with a reference site to validate their claims?

This is the vendors page:
www.youjoomla.com/shop/_catalog/joomla_e...j_live_search_module
On it, they reference fireboard and the link points at content based upon kunena.com:
www.bestofjoomla.com/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,38/
As I understand it, kunena is fireboard's successor... so his claim makes some sense.
So, I did enable fireboard searching for his YJ search plugin, but it does not seem to be working on kunena. I am wondering if there is someway to make kunena searchable like fireboard... ie, is there a plugin that will help here?
Many thanks,
Mike

In short Fireboard is, these days, something of an historical curiosity. Some websites continue to use Fireboard. No doubt there are good reasons for doing that. I started with Fireboard; I quickly went to Kunena because that's where my future lay.
If your interests lie with Fireboard then perhaps YouJoomla's products may be best for you. If your interests lie with Kunena then maybe they aren't. In either event, if YouJoomla's interests lie with Kunena then you should ask them to demonstrate to you the veracity of their claims that their product can co-operate effectively with Kunena.
Alternatively, ask yourself the question: why do I need the YouJoomla search function if Kunena's built-in search function delivers enough? Try it yourself.

I am looking for a search module that is polished looking with the ajax wow, but will search my blog, forums, comments, and ideally :
(a) have a built in site search driven by google... PLUS
(b) some featured content that I can control
Of course, this is just my wish list...
I would settle for a search module that is polished like the youjoomla one that searches blog, kunena forums, and comments.
Please let me know if you know of such a search module.
Thanks,
Mike

Ideally is the operative word. As we don't live in an ideal world we have to live with compromise unless you have an unlimited budget.I am looking for a search module that is polished looking with the ajax wow, but will search my blog, forums, comments, and ideally
I suggest that you look at extensions.joomla.org/
Good luck
