Introduction:
The Kunena team is thrilled to announce the first public beta release of Kunena 7.1, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.4 and Joomla 6.x. This is a development release and should be only be used for testing; this version is not recommended for live websites at this stage. Kunena 7.0 works on Joomla! 6.0 natively without the needs of compat plugin.
The purpose of this release is to encourage testing by downloading, installing and identifying any problems or shortcomings that people may discover. K 7.1.0 B1 is in testing phase and we are aware that people will discover defects. We encourage you to use the forum to report defects, as soon as they are discovered, so that the development team can work through the problems before the release of K 7.1 as a stable product. Reporting defects does not mean that the problems can or will be fixed. The Kunena team is looking forward to hearing your feedback on how well we have achieved our design goals.
Kunena 7.1 has been designed to work on Joomla! 5.4 and 6.0, the requirements are the followings :
- Php 8.3.0
- MariaDb 10.4 or MySQL 8.0.13
- Bootstrap 5.x
The work done in Kunena 7.1 is mostly to update the code base:
- Remove deprecated code which are planned to be removed in Joomla! 7.0 (replace triggerEvent)
- Add a way to store the notifications to be send later with the Kunena task plugin (still on work in progress)
- Some improvements on the code to optimise a bit the speed
- Refactor the queries to use Joomla! database query way
- Allow with a plugin (will be availaible later in subcription page) to add new social in user profile
- Some improvements on SCeditor : add undo plugin and allow to handle some others parameters on inserting an image (thanks to joomod)
