Question Closure of User-written templates category

The User-written Templates category was originally intended to be a place where members of the community could share their ideas, designs and experience with other members of the community in the spirit of open-source development and as a way of extending the standard template designs included with the Kunena installation kit.

This category has increasingly been used as a place where some commercial template manufacturers are promoting for free their products from which they derive a financial benefit. The User-written Templates category is not meeting its originally-intended purpose. Further, while these businesses are profiting at the expense of many thousands of hours of unpaid work by the Kunena project, we consider that this use of the category is not fair on those who work for the project without receiving any financial assistance.

The terms of use clearly sets out the terms of our advertising policy (section 7). Further, it is incumbent on any person who creates a website that uses the Kunena logo or trademark in their commercial enterprise, to state clearly on any and all pages that contain this logo and/or the Kunena trademarked name, that the the logo and trademark are copyright and that their site is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Kunena project team. The use of the Kunena logo and trademark are covered by section 11 of the terms of use .

Developers of commercially-available products that interoperate with Kunena are welcome to purchase advertising space on this website.

After discussion within the Kunena project team, we have decided that the User-written Templates category will no longer be available on this website. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation in this matter.
