Question Can I move my forum content and user profiles over to J! 1.6?

I got a website and well running Kunena 1.6.3 Forum on Joomla 1.5.
I'd like to migrate to Joomla 1.6 now and have installed the new Joomla on the same webserver but under a different directory (subdomain), with a pre-installed empty Kunena 1.6.3.
How do I get easy and secure my forum content and User Profiles over to the new Joomla/Kunena installation?
Is there any script or plugin available to do that on a click?
I have the same Kunena version running on both installations.
I would be very grateful for your advise.
Greetings,
Thomas

I do have an excisting Joomla 1.5 site with a Kunena Forum running (1.6.3). Now that Joomla 1.6 is available, I would like to re-build my website with Joomla 1.6 completely new, installing Kunen there and transfer all forum topics and members from the old Joomla 1.5 version to the new 1.6 installation. Is there an easy way to do that?

K 1.6 has not been verified as 100% compatible with Joomla 1.6. In fact, the reason that K 1.6 is not able to be 100% compatible with J! 1.6 is because of an inherent defect in J! 1.6.0. In effect, J! 1.6.0 does not make things entirely possible for Joomla extension developers to always be able to make their products J! 1.6-compliant.
It was originally intended that K 1.6 would be compatible with J! 1.6. The original design specification says "K 1.6 will be made compatible with J! 1.6 when J! 1.6 becomes stable." That point has not yet arrived.
It is possible to migrate from J! 1.5 to J! 1.6. Migrating is different from upgrading. To be technically correct, there is no "upgrade" from J! 1.5 to J! 1.6 because the internal data structures are completely different. However, these things should not affect Kunena (and certainly they won't affect Kunena in the long term). At the present time there are problems and the development team is working through those issues. The biggest stumbling block in achieving K 1.6 compatibility with J! 1.6 lies with the Joomla development team at this time.

Thank you much for your reply. I better wait another while before migrating.

Joomla 1.6.1 will also have the same defects, especially if you try to use J1.5 components in it.
Good news is that earlier today I found workarounds for the installer issues making it possible to install and uninstall Kunena without issues in many environments (maybe not all). So after installation Kunena should look the same as in Joomla 1.5.
We have also fixed many of the reported J1.6 issues into K1.6.4, so it should be much better than current version. I just came into forum because of I ran out of J1.6 issues.
But as we are going to release Kunena 1.6.4 in few days, we are not yet declaring it fully J1.6 compatible.
