Import messages from another forum was created by trogladyte
I am redoing a website for a client. The current site has a forum with many messages already on it. Is there any easy way to import them in Kunena? Or will I need to cut and paste each message in individually?
Assuming the latter, how do I go about setting the date, time and poster name to match the original?
Cheers

G'day, trogladyte, and welcome to Kunena.
There isn't a simple answer to this question because the answer depends entirely on what kind of forum system was being used as the basis of the migration. I suggest you search for the name of the forum system that you want to convert from and read about what other people have discovered.
Sometimes it's possible to migrate from something else into Kunena and sometimes it's not.

Hi Sozzled
Thanks. I'll get the details from the client - it's one of those free online website builder sites - I'm guessing there's probably no export function to even make importing a possibility.
That being the case, how do I go about entering all the threads manually in the back end? There's not too many thank goodness - maybe a couple of 100 messages aver 15-20 threads.
Also, I've found most of what I think I want to change color wise, apart from 2. See the attached pics. Which file do I find them in and what lines please?
Thanks.

You follow-up question is off-topic and should be treated as a separate topic. As a general reply to your question you should use a web design tool, like
Firebug
for Firefox.
Staying on-topic, the answer to your question depends entirely on what you are converting from. When you provide some details of what you are trying convert from we might be able to answer your question better.
In general terms, you need to know about databases, about who posted what when it was originally posted, the format of the message in the forum where it was originally posted and the way that Kunena handles messages. There are some conversion tools available that automate the process but there are not tools for every forum system that has been used since the Internet was created. There are also people who make a business from converting messages posted in one forum and helping you to move those messages to another forum. If this is important to you, you may need to pay someone to do this job for you. I can only give you general advice.
