Kunena 7.0.4 Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

The range of alternatives is limited. You have BBcode or you have plain text.
I assume, from your question, that you may be asking about the availability of a WYSIWYG-style approach? See [Merged topic]Can we have a WYSIWYG editor for Kunena? How to allow HTML tags? .
In any forum you will always find users who are "uncomfortable" with one or another feature and, in some cases, there is no pleasing everyone. It's your job, as the webmaster, to make your users feel comfortable. You can do that by providing links to helpful information about how to make the most of the forum (e.g. A basic forum help page for beginners ) to to answer their questions when they have them.
Many forums - like this one - use BBcode and most people seem to adapt to them fairly quickly. If your users are familiar (and feel more comfortable) with WYSIWYG-based forums, they might need some time to adjust to BBcode-based ones; some will make the adjustment and some won't. At the end of the day, though, it's not about how things look ... it's about the content of what is written.
