There is currently no "Hacks, Tricks and Tips" section for Kunena 1.6.

This is something that I've discussed on a few occasions with the developers and other moderators. The development team encourages users to help one another, to share their ideas, to extend Kunena in ways that the developers had not planned and to contribute to the project. This was the original intention of the Hacks, Tricks and Tips categories in previous versions of Kunena.

This is still the intention here, today, with K 1.6 and into the future. The original intention in having a Hacks, Tricks and Tips category was to generate interest for ideas that benefit the community and to encourage community participation in developing those ideas. Some of these ideas may even be adopted/adapted by the development team and became part of the project. Some of them didn't.

At this stage in the evolution of Kunena, the development team's focus is to ensure that the product works, is stable, reliable, durable and that meets the majority of the community's needs. This was one of the reasons that held-back a Hacks, Tricks and Tips category; there weren't enough hours in the day to attend to dealing with "real" problems let alone trying to handle all the other "nice" things that, if we had the time, we would really like to do".

I'm not saying that hacks are not a real part of a community-driven project like Kunena. Nor am I suggesting that the development team is the least bit disinterested in providing support to tailor Kunena to meet unique, individual needs. However, I would say that the original intention, to provide a forum for users to exchange their own ideas and to help one another by hacking the core software changed. The Hacks, Tips and Tricks category became a place where users expected the development team to make those changes for anyone who asked for them and free-of-charge. This is not what the Hacks, Tricks and Tips category should have been used for but, then again, we learn from our experience.
