Hi again

Much more joyfull to read your post this time (and much more thoughtfull - if not for me, at least for the other readers).
Credits for that. :P

It seems like we are pretty much of the same oppinion, so no point in discussing on.

That fact alone must be somewhat persuasive for those who may doubt its worth, wouldn't you think?

Yes - Certainly!
But personally, I too thought: "They are not offering any demo's, so this number has to be somewhat 'made up'"

Anyway - In my world, its almost odd some of the larger sites in the Joomla world dont uses a fellow native forum-module.
It would be great to see more supporting Kunena.

It all helps the common goal of making a damn good forum. :side:

Best regards, and good night you

We do not have demo site currently, as we do not believe that giving backend access to our production server is safe enough. So in order to have demo site, we would need to buy another (virtual) server to make it happen.

Hello Matias

Allright. Fully understandable.

If you accept someone else to host a demo or two, there might be someone here that could put together a solution.
That is, of course, up to you.

I got an answer.
Thanks for that! :)

Best regards

Yep I definitely agree with all your posts, some very good points there from everyone :) I was probably a little too narrow minded with my comment :P

Perhaps now it would be better to ask if there is someone in the community that would be willing to supply hosting space and someone that would be willing to set it up, together with a demo site. Best option would probably be a VPS that is reinstalled from an image every x amount of hours :)

I can't say I have the resources, but maybe there is someone on here that does joomla focused VPS hosting that would be willing, with a note about them in the footer perhaps.

Could the backend "Demo" not be achived with a few Flash videos pointing out the backend features and what they do with a bit of commentry. I know a number of Joomla component teams do this and it gives new users an idea of each function in the backend plus provides training on how to install .. how to change template .. and other questions commonly asked (and answered by sozzled).

This would require no extra hosting, just a bit of time from someone with the knowledge to record and post. Especially helpful if K1.6 is going to be as powerful/configurable as it looks.

Gentlemen,

These are all great ideas. The main reason why we have not provided a demo site with backend access is the amount of time required to strip down and secure a Joomla backend and prevent all the BAD guys in the world from hacking into the demo site.

Its like offering admin access to a UNIX box to 'see' what you can do.

Yes it is doable, but it requires lots of work and automation - like wiping the demo site every day.

I think that our time would be better spent on creating more demo content that installs itself on a new install. That way you have a full local copy with real data and you can see how it has been configured.

Thanks for the suggestions!
