Hi
First of all, sorry for the catching topic ..
Intro:
I am new to Joomla and therefore of course Kunena. I am not new to opensource and webapplications.
I am webmaster for a medium sized nordic portal/forum.
We are on the lookout for alternatives to our old locked-in applications, and I accidently stumbled upon Kunena (by a friend).
Info:
We have a lot of existing data:
- ~1 mio threads & postings in our forum archives
- ~800.000 user profiles in total
The activity is however much less:
- ~1.000 new postings a day
- ~50.000 users loggin in (main part logs in due to a webservice which is outsourced)
The monthly statistics shows:
- ~20mio page views
- ~1mio unique users
- Unknown number of searches (fulltext searches in entire forum)
I am aware that the searches is important, but we dont have any statistics on that as it is today.
I am also aware that loadbalancers take a lot of the load (duh
) and we have a professionel hosting partner in hand already.
Question:
Will Kunena (and Joomla) be able to handle this?
Are there experienced people (within this forum?) who can help with tips and tricks for large sites?
/ Best regards

@fxstein - Thanks. As I wrote, Ill give a private email this weekend.
@deminbo
I've read a bit about 1.6 and 2.0.
And yes, I might wait for at least 2.0 to come out as you recommend. I wouldnt begin such a project without being somewhat sure it can succeed
There is not much info on this topic though (yet), but it looks promising.
