Question Subscribe by keyword

Subscribe by keyword was created by kwally
We know subscriptions by thread and soon maybe we have subscriptions by category.

I want to know, when somebody is talking about me, my company or my products. And so do other forum members.
A chance to subscribe to specific keywords or phrases would be great.
It might affect the performance, so a limit for the amount of keywords is advised.
The limit should be depending on the user status (e.g. 2 keyword-subscriptions for fresh boarders, 100 for senior boarders)

Is there an extension, who does this?

Never seen this. Do you have an example of it working somewhere?

I think, the extensions "Content filter" or "mouthwashing" are doing something similar. They replace keywords like sh*t by a ****.

My proposed extension would after detecting one of the pre-defined keywords just send an email.
The Database-table for this new extension would have the format
Keyword (A word or phrase)
Action (Send EMail or Replace string)
Parameter (Either the eMail address, or the replacement string)
User (Id of the user who created this entry)

A typical entry in the mouthwashing programs would be
"sh*t", Replace, "****", Id of admin

In my proposed extension the entry can be
"kwally", Sendmail, [email protected], MyuserID

But I can also imagine entries like
"Joomla", Replace, Joomla , Admin
Maybe this last example is not good for a forum, but I would like it for articles submitted to Joomla.

But to answer your question: No I have not seen it in any forum.

You need to put this up on Uservoice. There is no official wishlist or feature request threads on the forum.

From Kunena 1.0.10 you can use any Joomla plugin that hooks into onPrepareContent event. Currently only message text is passed to that event and it's better suited to filtering words, but..

We are also planning on adding events when someone posts a message etc.. They were planned for K1.0.10, but it looks like we are running out of time..
