I would like to make profiles public in Kunena, but have been unable to find any information about this.

Currently they are not accessible to outside users - in particulare the FBProfile.

Thanks.

Try to change access level from the menu item (Kunena Menu > Profile).

Are you talking about the joomla menu item? There is no profile on it, just the top level forum access which is set to public.

I can't find this in Kunena component configuration either.

Kunena uses own menu (Joomla menu item in Kunena Menu > Forum > Profile), which is by default Registered. After a thought changing that doesn't help much, as guests do not have own profile page..

There's also configuration setting that prevents guests from seeing user profiles.
Security > Allow Guests to see User Profiles
