The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0
This category contains miscellaneous, uncategorised third-party extensions (e.g. JomSocial, Community Builder, etc.) relating to older versions of Kunena that are no longer supported.
This category may also contain a few topics relating to K 1.6 that may have been moved here possibly by mistake.
The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural differences between K 1.6 and K 1.7, the ideas in these topics may not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.
Users have been complaining about log on issues lately, since J1.6 and Kunena 1.6 updates. Running CB 1.23 also.
Researching the problem I found that the joomla log on and kunena log on are not really respecting each others log offs. If I log on via kunena form on the forum, I"m on with joomla until the session is closed. When I return to the site, I'm logged off joomla but still on kunena.
I was showing two sessions on the back end.
When I came back, I'm still logged off joomla, I then log off kunena, I think that may clear things up. Sessions in sync now. Now I logged in on joomla, should be on with kunena and I bet the remember me will be respected. All is right with the world.
So here's the question, or I may have solved my problem, depends on how the question is answered.
Should the Login and Registration setting be set to none on the Kunena forum configuration if I have CB? I saw where CB was an option but obviously something was not jiving.
Problem now is I have no log on form on the forum page, that's going to throw some of the users off balance.
What is the best practice for Joomla, Community Builder and Kunena as far as the user log in process?
You should set your login integration to use the same login module that your users normally use with the site. Setting login integration = none turns off the means to login on the Kunena forum page.
Best practice? I don't know. Some people prefer to no allow their users to login on the Kunena pages. I do on my websites (and I use CB 1.2.3, too) and I use login integration = Community Builder. Don't use login integration = auto ... maybe that's the answer?
Well that brings me back to my original problem. When the user logs in to the site with the Kunena form their session is not remembered on the CB/Joomla side. Any suggestions?
Got this fixed. Folks at Community Builder site pointed me in the right direction. Make sure the Kunena Session Lifetime and Joomla Session Lifetime are in sync.
