Kunena 6.3.0 released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.3.0 [K 6.3.0] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.4.x/5.0.x/5.1.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.3

This category contains miscellaneous, uncategorised third-party extensions (e.g. JomSocial, Community Builder, etc.) relating to older versions of Kunena that are no longer supported.

This category may also contain a few topics relating to K 1.6 that may have been moved here possibly by mistake.

The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural differences between K 1.6 and K 1.7, the ideas in these topics may not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.

We have had to disable our pm service from our forum, due to spamming problems...!

Is there a more secure PM plugin we can use.... we really do miss this facility....!

I've just realized this is the module we disabled..... If I enable this again... what can I do to stop it being attacted by spam again...?

would manually accepting new members sort this problem out out ...?

There are probably a million ways to deter spam users but, as I've remarked on several occasions and in several other discussions, " the only truly effective remedy against spam is vigilance ". You can apply all the technological barriers you can think of and spam will continue. It's just the nature of the internet (although some site seem to be more attractive for spammers than others - gaming sites and "anime" sites seem to be extremely popular).

If your site fits into one of the spam-attractive genres, maybe you need to be even more vigilant than if you were developing a site for people who have an interest in, say, spotted zebras.

I think you should change your site registration policy to review and require your approval of all new user applications ... and let your discretion guide you. B)
