Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.
The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.
This category contains miscellaneous, uncategorised third-party extensions (e.g. JomSocial, Community Builder, etc.) relating to older versions of Kunena that are no longer supported.
This category may also contain a few topics relating to K 1.6 that may have been moved here possibly by mistake.
The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural differences between K 1.6 and K 1.7, the ideas in these topics may not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.

What we suggest is that you stay clear of the SQL tables if you don't know what you're doing.
See How To Destroy your forum data...
You don't need to uninstall K 1.5.6 in order to upgrade to K 1.5.9.

If you are asking "Can I patch up K 1.5.6?" I think you've shot your bolt.
If you are asking "Can I successfully repair my SQL database tables?" I am but a mere mortal and I don't know what you've done.
If you are asking "Can I install the latest version of Kunena (K 1.5.9) to fix my problems?" You can install the latest version but I have no idea whether this will work.
If you are asking "Can I return to a previously working version?" have you got a previously working version?
I'm trying to chase a moving target here. Sorry.
At the moment we're staring at a train wreck: our first priority is to get as many bodies out of there as we can (preferably alive) but, as in any disaster, we may not be able to save everyone. The goal of any disaster recovery operation is to restore operations to as close as possible what they were like before the disaster struck. Sometimes that's as easy as restoring from a very recently-taken backup; sometimes, though, your last backup might have been made a week ago (or a month ... or more) and so, by recovering, you'll miss out on the last week (or month's) postings. C'est la vie. Your first priority is to save what you can. Sometimes this may involve quarantining your website to allow you time to conduct your salvaging operations without the interference of onlookers. We can worry about preventing disasters in future (by upgrading your software) another time ... but, perhaps, an upgrade may help ...
How can I help you better?

I'm sorry, I'm having difficulty understanding what you want to do.If [my attempts to diagnose and fix K 1.5.6 are unsuccessful] i can uninsall and upgrade to the newest version.
