Kunena 7.0.4 Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0
This category may also contain a few topics relating to K 1.6 that may have been moved here possibly by mistake.
The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural differences between K 1.6 and K 1.7, the ideas in these topics may not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.
Question Group Jive Not So Private Forums
There is one way to get private forum: changing pub_access field to 1 in phpmyadmin. I do not generally recommend doing this, but now there are no other choices..

Do you mean by this that the Groupjive catgeory in Kunena (that contain all groupjive forums) is disabled...yes.Are you sure that you have set GJ to have only private groups? With public groups this is what I expect it to do..
As I said, the main forum created by GJ is private. My concern is the sub-forum/category added to this private forum (in kunena (forum admin), which does not share the same privacy.
Will try
for the sub-catgegory of the private forum, to see if that fixes it, and get back to you.changing pub_access field to 1 in phpmyadmin
Thanks laot for your suggestion.

but got no joy.changing pub_access field to 1 in phpmyadmin
The result was that no registered members could see the sub-forums, that is, they could view their main private group forum, but could not see any sub forums created manually in Kunena's Forum Administration.
Back to the drawing board.

Worked around this by:
1.Raising 'Public Access Level' of sub forum, from Registred to Author.
2. Then, Making group members of required gpoup, Moderators of that particular sub forum.
This dawned on me after re-reading the follwing paragraph, next to the 'Public access' select box in Forum Administration.
To create a non-public Forum, you can specify the minimum user level that can see/enter the forum here. By default, the minumum user level is set to "Everybody".
Please note: If you restrict the access of a whole category to one or more certain groups, you will hide all forums it contains to anybody not having proper privileges for the category even if one or more of these Forums has a lower access level set! This is also true for moderators. You will need to add a moderator to the category moderator list if they do not have the proper group level to see the category.
Categories cannot be moderated, but moderators can still be added to the moderator list.
This workaround for Groupjive sub forums would not be practical where groups have large memberships.
