The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.1 [K 7.0.1] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.0.x/5.1.x/5.2.x/5.3.x/5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0
Important note: Go to the Kunena Dashboard after an upgrade so that the Kunena database tables are also updated. This is particularly necessary for major version jumps so that the table changes are adapted.
This category may also contain a few topics relating to K 1.6 that may have been moved here possibly by mistake.
The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural differences between K 1.6 and K 1.7, the ideas in these topics may not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.

I prefer groupjive over supergroups, first is free, second, has been overtaken by CB team so you can expect the best integration possible, and it integrates with kunena too!
Also, it includes photos, and HWDphotoshare is planned to integrate with groupjive, counting I already use it for videos... I need to give you guys my UddeIM PM Mod to make it in a MODAL box.
You may not believe it, but I've been talking with beat and matias last twodays seeing how the JS PM effect in kunena could be replicated with uddeIM

Modal boxes for your plugin selection are loadin pretty slow
axxis products seem pretty good, but I see them someway overprized

I find the current CB competitor for JS could be
CB+UddeIM+HWDMEdiashare+Supergroups+SuperActivity
Desired would be_
CB+UddeIM+HWDMediaShare+GroupJive+Official activity plugin (word from Beat, will be ready soon)

The biggest benefit I have found with SuperGroups, and ALL other Axxis.gr products I have purchased is that they are always being update and new features are constantly being add. The customer support is also unbelievable.
For CB, I am still an acid supporter compared to commercial products such as JomSocial however, often times advancements are slow so for the time being I MUST use products that offer me the features I have to have. As well as the ones my clients will be demanding. I think that Groupjive has the potential.... I just hope the developers see it as well.
I was also not aware that CB Team was developing an Activity plugin... they also do not advertise these things on their site often enough. Groupjive status on the frontpage is still set at Beta3????
The PluginSelection for CB is meant to mimic that of JomSocial... although I am not fond of the MooTools slides I am going to be changing this soon with a tabbed feature. This will come in handy with Krileon's CB Tab in Component Wrapper which by the way works wonders for removing that pesky CBSubs Tab from the users Profile. *Hint*
All in All I LOVE all the communitys support for all project Joomla! related. I think we as a group are making huge leaps and bounds with these new codes, designs and integrations. The biggest question for me is Whats Next?

), having to rely on a 3rd party software that could change in any moment rendereing them useless... not counting is not even a screen like in Jomsocial, but a module. So, I decided to stay on the safe side (money wise) and support the "free" products, as at the end, they are the base, and are developing their own solutions for all needed...
This is what I miss more in CB, a Community frontpage as you can find in jomsocial. USerlist are something of the past.

Also, UserList... I feel that they are a bit primitive in Community Builder so I am working on a new solution for this that adds some additional functionality. It should be ready in the next 3 - 4 weeks. I can not disclose the details just yet but I think people will be happy with it.
The biggest functional loss that I see with ALL of these communities is a lack of templating. Why is it that Joomla! has such a nice, advanced templating capability but these do not? Community Builder I assumed would have done this already but is lacking. Hell.. I may work on this myself.. couldn't be that hard. Its easy enough to manipulate the default templates to do what I have already done.
You mentioned community driven code.. which is great don't get me wrong. But... if your wanting to run a successful, money making website that is going to be in high demand and not just a hobby site then you have to have the BEST of the BEST! Today it maybe supergroups in my mind and then tomorrow someone else may release something else. That is why the JED (Joomla Extension Directory) is such a valuable tool.... would be nice if "NEW" extensions were updated daily however... lol! Also... I am disapointed that the JED removed all NON-GPL extensions from the directory.... 2000+ extensions gone in a matter of days. If nothing it was a valuable resource for people who needed to be point in the right direction.
One thing I can say that I LOVE about Joomla! is the friendships, and ability to learn from others. I give thanks to anyone who has taught me something or given me the opportunity to teach them.

I was hugely dissapointed with Jmsocial, and now I'm more picky on what extensions I pay for.
For example, I'm pretty into paying for jreviews or hwdmediashare, even for joomsuite that I use on one project pretty specific, but when it comes to extensions that are beta, or rely on other ones, I prefer to stay on the safe side.
