Question Guest comments appearing in Kunena Forum

Guest comments appearing in Kunena Forum was created by Phoenix
Is there a way to allow guests to post comments and then have their comments appear in a specific topic in a forum which is otherwise limited to guests viewing only.
What I am looking to accomplish is to allow guests to comment on articles that are linked to specific topics using Discuss and then have their comments appear in the forum without opening up the entire forum to guest posting. If they then wanted to create new threads or reply through the forum itself they would need to follow the forum settings and register.
I did read the thread about different permissions levels that would enable (or not) the ability for admins only to create new threads and limit registered users to only reply in pre-existing threads but I am hoping that there is a way to have Discuss somehow "override" the forum settings so guest comments can show in specific threads without changing the settings of the forum itself.

I'm no authority since I've only just upgraded to K1.6, but would the "ID to post as" do it?
Not that that seems to distinguish between guests and account holders though... :S

I don't see an "ID to post as" setting. Can you tell me where you found it?

I was referring to "Topic Owner" in the parameters for the discuss plugin.
Still not sure if it's what you want though

Hello,
The topic owner controls the name under which the initial thread post is created (when there isn't one already and a new thread is being created). In this case I already have a post that the comments are being mapped to and unfortunately even if I didn't it still wouldn't allow a guest to make an article comment that appeared in the forum if the forum was set on registered only.
I appreciate your trying to help though as it would be great if there was a way.

PS: I did find a way to accomplish a bit of what I was looking to do by changing the "new topic" tab menu item to registered only so even though my forum is set to allow guest posting so that guest article comments will appear, they don't have a way to start a new topic unless they click on the thread itself in which case there are two "new topic" buttons which appear which they could use (and which I may try to find a way to delete). Of course none of this restricts their ability to reply to a thread in the forum which I would also like to eliminate so all they could do is have article comments appear).
