Question Using links to jump to forum and article again returns

HI, I just started with Kunena Discuss. It seems as a great plugin, I got it working and everything but I have 2 problems:

1. Kunena Discuss uses links on both fronend (to jump to forum) and on the forum (to jump back to article). When I click on the link on the forum (to return to article commented), it shows an article with icons for edit, print, date created, and without main menu. All the buttons/options for the article are turned off in the article, and it has main meny assignment to it so, not sure why it returns like that from the forum.

2. I'm beginner to joomla too, forgive me about not knowing this, but how to enable comments only on specific article? (currently it's enabled on all of them)

I'm using joomla 2.5 and Kunena 1.7.2
Thank You

EDIT: I just found another bug: when kunenadiscuss opens up topic on the forum, it shows wrong "date created" for the topic (i.e. it wrote topic created 1y 2months ago although it was created moments ago).

G'day, KunenaUserBeginnerLevel, and welcome to Kunena.

(1) From the sounds of things, the problems you describe are not related to the Kunena Discuss plugin but are, more generally, caused by the way you have configured the Kunena component. I think you need to read the FAQs page (see the menu tab near the top of this page) and, especially, find out how to restore your Kunena menu properly.

(2) I'm not exactly sure I understand what you mean "how to enable comments only on specific article"? Do you mean, you want to disable comments on other articles? If that is what you mean, read msg #19 in Instructions for Kunena Discuss plugin

(3) I don't know about the wrong date created. Perhaps it would help to see your configuration report.

Thank You for taking the time to help, it means a lot.

I'll try to explain a bit better: Kunena Discuss plugin creates a topic on the forum category which I connected to, right? OK, now, inside that topic, first post contains a LINK which returns back to the article where the comments took place. This link is created by the plugin, and when I click on it, it returns me to the page, but without main (joomla) menu, and with article options set to global (which means print/edit/send/date created/category/etc./ info is visible, and it shouldn't be). Now, I don't mind this link being turned off on the forum, so if there is way for this, this would already be a problem solver.

(2) I'm not exactly sure I understand what you mean "how to enable comments only on specific article"? Do you mean, you want to disable comments on other articles? If that is what you mean, read msg #19 in Instructions for Kunena Discuss plugin

OK, to make things clear, I have to insert {kunena_discuss:0} into every article on my site in order to disable comments from it?

(3) I don't know about the wrong date created. Perhaps it would help to see your configuration report.

I will gladly generate/send one, but how? :) (sorry for the lack of knowledge, I'm still learning, but persistant to give this plugin a chance since it's great).

Thanks

Lots of questions and lots of different issues here. I will do my best to address these matters as a whole.

(1a)

KunenaUserBeginnerLevel wrote: [The] first post contains a LINK which returns back to the article where the comments took place.

The easiest way for you to understand how things should work is to look at how they work here at this website. Go to the Discuss Articles category on this site and try things for yourself. How does this compare with what you've done on your site?

KunenaUserBeginnerLevel wrote: Now, I don't mind this link being turned off on the forum, so if there is way for this, this would already be a problem solver.

I don't know the answer to this question, and so I suggest you pursue your investigate along the lines I suggested in (1a) above.

KunenaUserBeginnerLevel wrote: ... I have to insert {kunena_discuss:0} into every article on my site in order to disable comments from it?

That's one way. It all depends which articles you want to discuss and which articles you don't want to discuss. You can enable or disable discussions for specific categories. For example, you may not want to discuss all categories. You could, for example, more specific articles into a "discuss-these-articles" category and enable the plugin only for that category. Or, you could "disable" discussions for specific articles using the method we've talked about. It all depends on how much (or how little) you want to use the Kunena Discuss plugin for.

(3) We cannot access your site. I don't know the answer to the "date" question. What is the creation date of these Joomla articles? Does the creation date of the article relate to the forum topic start date? I haven't performed sufficient tests myself to be able to answer you with how these dates may be related. Perhaps another member of the community can help us.

(4) Without being able to view your website, your configuration report shows that you do not have a Kunena menu present. Please read How do I restore my Kunena menu?

(5) Please also read Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and implement the recommendations accordingly. This may assist you in the answer to Q1 above.

(6) Without being able to view your website, if you are unsure about how the changes you have made to your Kunena configuration may have impacted on its operation, I suggest you restore the configuration settings to their default values. There is a feature on your Forum Configuration page to do this.
