Is it possible?
To make the discuss plugin create Kunena category for each content, not topic.
So when in content page, it check if there is a Kunena category for this content.
If there is a category, the plugin shows a list of topics of this Kunena category.
If there is no category, it shows a button like the button to create a topic, but it create a category.

It would be great, to have a category for each content, with a lot of topics for content.

Is it possible?
I can do this editing tables / columns in kunenadiscuss.php?

You can assign a Kunena forum category for each Joomla article, if you want. Is this the question you are asking? You can assign different forum categories depending on which Joomla category your article is in. Is that the question you are asking?

I'm sorry but I don't really understand your question about "[How to] make the discuss plugin create Kunena category for each content, not topic."

Hi sozzled

The discuss plugin create a single topic for each content item in joomla, right?

I want to know if is possible to hack the plugin so it dont create a topic for each content, but create a new Kunena category for that content item.

So each content item has a category in Kunena with a lot of topics for one single content item, not just one topic like the default discuss plugin does.

Content Item "15"
- Kunena Category for Content Item "15" (created by discuss plugin)
-- topic 1
-- topic 2
-- topic 3

Content Item "55"
- Kunena Category for Content Item "55" (created by discuss plugin)
-- topic 1
-- topic 2
-- topic 3

the way discuss plugin works today, create only a topic to discuss that content, like a comment system.

the way I trying to do is not to use Kunena as comment system, but as a forum for Joomla Content Items.
So we have a full Kunena category for one single content item, with many topics dedicated to this single content item.

You ask if something is possible and I answer (as I have always answered) that anything is possible if you are prepared to accept the cost.

I understand your idea and I wish you well with that idea. It's not going to be easy to achieve.

A topic in Kunena is simply a bunch of messages (records in the table kunena_messages). A category, on the other hand, is quite different and you need to carefully consider what your setting out to do. As you will see, if you read Sections, Categories, sub-categories you cannot post anything to a Kunena forum unless you create a container for those messages, i.e a category. therefore, to achieve what you want to do, your "hack" (as you call it), will need to create those categories as well as create the topics that your content will generate. This isn't going to be a simple hack; in effect it will be a total rewrite of the Kunena Discuss plugin.

Good luck.

I understand.

Do you know the cost for a customization like that?
There is some area in this forum for this kind of jobs, or where I can get any help?

Thank you.

I have discussed your request with the development team. We may be able to give a better indication of costs after the K 2.0 project is wound up - my guess is around 3 months from now - and it should be fairly easy to do that after that time. I hope that helps.

No, not yet. First we need to get the plug-in to work in the latest K2.0 beta.
