Install fireboard 1.0.x on Joomla! 1.0.15, then follow the procedure above
Put the fireboard tables jos_fb_* on Joomla 1.5.22 and install kunena 1.6.3, then you can copy the tables jos_kunena_* and install it under Joomla 1.6.1 with k1.6.3

The procedure that's documented in the Wiki may work but it seems a rather convoluted way to go about things. That you need to perform the migration on a J! 1.5.x site running in legacy mode and then you still need to migrate the data to J! 1.6 ... !!! This is like asking someone to change cars twice, just to get out of the garage, and when you get on the road you find out that there's something wrong with the engine.
The following are just my observations and personal opinions:
(1) If you have a successful, busy, big phpBB3 forum - more than 100 users and 5,000 messages - and you want to continue to do business using Kunena don't start by using J! 1.6. That's just asking for trouble! Start by using J! 1.5.22
(2) Someone really needs to update the converter software that's mentioned in the Wiki article. For heaven's sake, we cannot really expect people to have to do some kind of double-shuffle, complicated dance manoeuvre - a "pas de trois", if you like, involving Fireboard - just to go from one web-based forum type to another. Kunena has been properly established as a forum type in its own right for over 2 years. We need to let go of the past and Fireboard is one of the things that needs to be sent to the bottom of the harbour.
(3) The procedure that's mentioned in the Wiki article is not 100% reliable. Sometimes it's better to "let go of the past" in other ways, too.

- Maybe it's better to not migrate your old forum? Maybe you should merely archive it, lock it and point your users to your new forum as a way of encouraging people to move with you.
- Many Wiki articles are long-overdue for review. The article that I've referred to falls into that category.

Wow - agree 100%. phpbb, vbulletin & smf. have those converters as part of the core of Kunena and the number of sites using Kunena will increase exponentially. More sites equals more developers, more themes etc. How about setting up a Kickstarter project to get it going?
