Same error.
Apparently the archive administrator/components/com_kunena/toolbar.kunena.php has not been extracted correctly by the installer.
Code:
"toolbar.kunena.php" [readonly][Incomplete last line] 75 lines, 1536 characters

For the sake of all who struggled with this issue more than an hour, the exact steps are:
  1. Unzip/untar (uncompress, ultimately) the installation package
  2. Inside, there will be an "archive" directory (a.k.a. folder). Step in.
  3. Take "com_kunena-admin.tar", and extract as root* a compressed file named "toolbar.kunena.php"
  4. Move that file as root* to administrator/components/com_kunena/
  5. Hit f5 (or refresh the stucked installation page)
  6. Then the component will finish successfully
  7. Change administrator/components/com_kunena/toolbar.kunena.php permissions accordingly

One last consideration: I cannot confirm that toolbar.kunena.php must be handled with root rights. The thing is, until the third time I did this procedure it failed because uncertain/unknown reasons. Then i realised that, somehow, the file should not be writable by apache.

Thanks kunena team for such a great contribution.

Best regards,

Paul.
